Early Stage Poker Tournament Strategy Play – OMG that loose “donk”

Accumulation of chips in a tournament is vital in the early stages, some players prefer to play a tight range of premium hands and pairs and try to extract as much value from them as they can.

They use a variety of bets and raises to define hands, and play aggressively to extract chips. This may be the “by the book” or “old school” approach to poker.

Don’t get me wrong it can work for people especially if they are comfortable with it, always play with a style you are comfortable with! But there are a few inherent flaws that go with this strategy.

Can You Spot an Online Poker Bluff?

So bluffing, yes it’s a big part of the game. But equally, if not more important, is the ability to sniff out an online poker bluff.

Not an online poker bluff this one but fun to watch nevertheless.


1. Know your opponents
Before you even start to okay, watch your opponents to see how they play: If they bluff a lot, keep going all-in…ALL the time, and if they keep raising in high amounts even though they only have a pair or nothing at all at the end of each hand.

Categorize your opponents as habitual bluffer, a straight forward player, or a sporadic bluffer (which are the hardest to play against)
